At the end of the general audience, the Holy Father said that the earthquake that hit the region and Christchurch in New Zealand has been more devastating than that of last September. Not to mention the serious damage it has caused many casualties. Benedict XVI said that his thoughts and prayers were hung out to all those who are immersed in the test, asking God to support the survivors and rescuers, and the faithful to pray for the victims.
