VATICAN CITY, March 2, 2011 (VIS). March 10, at 17 pm near the Salle de Presse Holy See, Cardinal Marc Ouellet, PSS, Prefect of the Congregation for Bishops, accompanied by the writer Claudio Magris, will present the second part of "Jesus of Nazareth by Benedict XVI (Vatican Publishing House and Herder). Published in six languages, here is a summary of the contents of its nine chapters and an epilogue:
The first chapter tells the entrance to Jerusalem and the cleansing of the Temple, while the second examines the discourse into three parts eschatological Jesus (Destruction of the Temple, the time of the Gentiles, Prophecy and Apocalypse). The third chapter, which discusses the washing of the disciples feet, is divided into five: time of Jesus, be purified, sacrament and example, gift and mission (a new commandment), the mystery of the betrayal, two conversations with Peter , washing of feet and confession of sins.
The fourth chapter deals with the priestly prayer of Jesus and is subdivided into: the Jewish holiday of atonement as a foreshadowing of the biblical priestly prayer, the four main topics of prayer, here is eternal life, sanctify them in the truth, make they know your name, they are one thing only.
The fifth, which is devoted to the Last Supper, discusses poins following: date of the Last Supper, the institution of the Eucharist, the theology of the words of institution, the Last Supper in the Sunday Eucharist. The next chapter, Gethsemane, is divided into: Into the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus' prayer, the will of Jesus and the Father, the prayer of Jesus in the Garden and in the Epistle to the Hebrews.
Chapter seven, called the trial of Jesus, is in two parts: opening remarks the Sanhedrin, Jesus before the Sanhedrin and before Pilate. Chapter Eight, entitled crucifixion and burial, structured as follows: preliminary thinking, storytelling and echo the passion of Jesus on the cross, the words of Jesus crucified (first words, Father forgive them, mocked Jesus, the cry of abandonment) , clothing played at random, I'm thirsty, women at the foot of the cross, the mother of Jesus, Jesus 'death, burial, Jesus' death as salvation and reconciliation.
The last chapter, devoted to the resurrection from the dead thus divided: What does the resurrection Jesus?, different witness, the death of Jesus, the empty tomb on the third day, witnesses of the narrative tradition, the appearances of Jesus to Paul, the evangelists appearances, nature of the resurrection of Jesus and historical significance.
